If I need to take action to return the money, why am I being responsible for somebody else’s mistake?

It is against the law but the irony is no one can force you to return the money. A civil lawsuit can develop though and no judgement here but we never know what's the money for and I wouldn't be able to live with it knowing if someone could have died from not having these money.. you know.
An example from the pay for reference.

It could be an offence if you don't return it.

Please return someone's hard earned money.
Because even if you don't get prosecuted, you would be announced to the whole world to be judged and no longer have a space in the society. Hahaha...
