I'm looking at some material and noticed that they described structured products as 'providing access to investment markets that are otherwise closed to investors'. I assume this refers to external markets and/or securities such as the S&P500? Do correct me if my understanding is incorrect?
What alternatives to structured products are there for this purpose?

With even China opening up there are so many non-closed opportunities, so much so that we should not aim for these most risky & intransparent & inefficient 'structured products'.
