I have recently gotten my license via private. You can have a look at my blog where I shared more about being a private student and the total cost for my driving.

I was a private student. However, I would consider going for school lessons if I were to do it again...

I took private lessons because there was greater flexibility in schedule, and that was something I prioritised due to my tight schedule. Lesson fees also ended up being cheaper than school ones even though I took the driving test twice, so that was a plus.
I think your NS driving experience already puts you ahead of many others who have not even touched the wheel before their first driving lesson. I would say that if you feel somewhat comfortable with driving, go for private lessons. I had a friend who also did some driving in NS and he passed his driving test on his first attempt after around 12 lessons (compared to the mandatory 25 for schools). No point putting yourself through so many lessons if you can pick it up fast right hahah.
However, for other learners who may need better guidance and more guidance, I felt that school lessons may be better, because private instructors seem to just go with the flow and lack a detailed lesson plan? At least that was what I felt from my experience.
Hope this helps! :)
