I'm in my 1st job for 8 years doing customer service and operations, going 33 soon. There's no promotion in sight. Planning to move the company. Ops is quite generic skills roles, so not sure whether I should find similar roles but if I find totally new job role, is it true that I need to take pay cut like grad pay to start like new? Advice?
Also thinking of toughened future proof jobs but not sure what can I do. I was a studying marketing (before SEO SEM was even in books) and tourism.

No, pay cut may not happen. For the most part, it depends on the value and skillset that you are able to bring to your prospective employer. There is no way for us to advise on whether you should stay in a similar role or to try something new. Instead, you need to evaluate for yourself on what is best for you. Try listing the pros and cons of each option to see where it gets you to.

I always emphasis hard on finding a job first before quitting your current job.
use this time to think through and look at job opportunities and start going for interviews.
It is not true to conclude taking a paycut in a new company with similar roles...just go search around and decide.βββ
