Hi All,
I would like to hear your thoughts on what is a proper way to tender your resignation.
I work in the shipping line and recently tendered my resignation by walking to my manager's table quietly (she was at her table) and placing the letter on her table before returning back to my table. She opened it up and read it and did not say a thing.
I heard from my colleague that she called me rude and have no manners for doing so and should have called her to a room privately to inform her and state my reason for leaving.
She still has not talked to me for the past 3 days and it seems she cannot be bothered about trying to retain me and asking for my reason for leaving.
May I ask if what I did was alright or could I have handled it better?
Thanks for any advice.

I'f I were to tender, I will make an appointment with my Manager (face to face session would be ideal) or via Zoom call to inform her.
Following up with the call by submitting a formal resignation.

Best to speak to her f2f first nicely.

I did the same when I were in my 1st job, being a first timer to quit a job I were intimidated to speak f2f with my former line manager, hence resorted to sending the resignation letter via email at night time.
That being said, I learnt that supervisors would really be appreciatvie if you give them a chance to understand your reason of resignation, and be given a chance to speak their minds.
Unfortunately putting a printed resignation letter on one's table is much worse, you might want to casually walk to her and inform her formally, not worth to burn the bridge.

When tendering your resignation, ask to speak to your boss privately. If your boss is not available ...
