is it worthwhile to get 20 yrs bond for myself and 49 yrs bond for my kids? Will I be affected by exchange rate at end of the bond?

No. I would rather invest in fixed income or a equity unit trust that payout monthly vs bond. I assume you invest in bond is for cashflow?
Unit trust may not be able to beat the equity market, but beating bond market should be possible.
