I currently have about $5k to invest, and I have my eyes set on Syfe REITs+ and S&P500.
Would I be hampering my returns by investing in Syfe REITs+ since I am purchasing 50/50 bonds/reits currently?
Which should I be investing in during this period?

Hi there! Instead of hampering your returns, an investment into the Syfe REIT+ portfolio can in fact shield you from more significant losses should markets slide further. The REIT+ portfolio aims to provide high yield with capital preservation. You can take a look at how Syfe portfolios have performed amid the volatility here: https://www.syfe.com/magazine/coronavirus-pande...
Ultimately, the current REITs / Bonds allocation will not be permanent. As volatility subsides, we will increase the REITs allocation to capture the upside as the market makes its eventual recovery.
