STI ETF Queries, could someone explain please?

Hello everyone, I’m looking towards STI ETFs now and interested in starting between $100-$200 (DCA) per month! Hope to seek some advice here! Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

  1. Since now the market is dropping, is this a good time to purchase now since I can potentially get more units?

  2. I would like to check how does returns and dividends from ETF works? Not very clear in this area

  3. Is selling my units when it reaches a peak period a suitable strategy? Or ETF are just meant to be there for long?

In general, it is always a good time to buy if your investment horizon is far out in future.

  1. Yes.

  2. the underlying companies in the ETF pay the fund managers dividends, who in turn pay you dividends.

  3. no right or wrong. selling at some point in the future could be due to various reasons. - rebalancing, -no more confidence in the ETF, - take some profit off, - sell then hope market go down to buy more.

depends on your investment horizon and temprement.

like myself i know i am not suitable to see numbers jumping every day. so i just buy and hold. most times i also would not even bother to look at ETFs annual reports.

hope this helps
