Sorry noob here. I’ve been reading online and researching SDPR STI. They state the average returns per year is at 7% but by looking at the STI chart the price doesn’t seem to increase since inception?

What's so good about this then?

Because it include the dividends and also the slow growth.
I still more into growth investment.. It is faster than dividend.
I am alr investing in china, seem to have potential growth too..

gives as of 31.03.2020 (this way of course covid crisis included) as current 10 year ANNUAL performance: pitiful 1.45%

What time period is more accurate when looking at past performance annualized returns? 5 years, 10 years or since inception?

If we look at a HDB e.g. priced at $500,000. And since the lease is 99 years. If we look at this perspective of renting 99 years from the government, this will equate around $5,050/ year which is around $420/month. Hmmm?

If I am currently earning x% interest in the bank, is there a reason why I would buy SSB now even though it will take at least 4 years to achieve more than x% average return per year? ?

I have a very noob question... I have been transferring $100 per month into DBS STI ETF. Over the years, the dividends would be based on the total amount accumulated inside the ETF right? ?
