REITs

Singapore's Oct new home sales halve on fewer launches. Looks like lesser people are buying property due to a weak market as a result of COVID-19. Are you one of them and does this affect REITs in SG?

Would residential home sales affect REITs at all or are they completely independent?

Hello,

REITs invest in properties and rent them out. Developer then buy land, build apartments and sell them (New Launches).

Therefore, I feel the main thing that will affect REITs now it’s the ability to fully rent out their offices or malls (depending on what they invest in). Which for this Covid period is highly affected due to less tourism and spending. Having say that, many REITs are already trading at “a discount” today.
