Should I quit my current stable job for another one that’s paying higher?

I'm 28(M) currently working in a retail job for about 5 years that's paying me about 3k basic + 1k in comms on an average every month with about $500 increment per year.

I’m also one of the first few people that joined the company when it first started and I work very closely with the boss so I’m technically counted as one of the “pioneers” in my company.

However recently I got an offer from an ID firm (friend's firm) even though I have no ID experience with more promising pay.

I’m in a dilemma whether to continue working in this retail line (Even though there’s potential that my current company will grow and there will be benefits for me) or to quit and join the ID firm that can pay me more than what I’m getting now…

Things to consider in comparing the job:

  1. salary and fringe benefits (the one you are sharing now)
  2. job scope, your ability to learn new skills and perform
  3. working environment, the people you will be working with
  4. working culture, the hours and expectations

These are some of the top areas that are important and should be taken into consideration as well.

My advice to you is that you are still considered young, pursue the skills that you think might allow you to grow to the person that you want to be. Along with the skills, money and pay naturally starts to follow behind.

This might be different if you are in the later or mid stage of your career.

If u have interedt in the new role go for it

Actually apart from pay, you may ask yourself on your interests (are you more keen on your current sales job or picking up ID skills). Are there other ID personnel in your friend's firm to guide you etc.. Sounds to me your current company pay, growth and culture are all pretty good. So unless there is a significant pay jump and growth prospect in the new company, I will not jump if I were in your position.

No....
