I am a Singapore PR (Malaysian) , currently married to a Singaporean with Singaporean child, hence no plans to return to Malaysia except for family visits. I have sufficient hospitalisation coverage via Integrated Shield Plan, and also have been paying for a medical plan in Malaysia, bought long before I started working in Singapore. Should I cancel the Malaysia medical plan? I have asked my financial planner, but he did not provide any advice on this - I guess they may get into trouble for advising people to terminate other insurance policies?

Hi anon,
I will just pose this question to you; if you are back in Malaysia and an emergency happens and you have to be sent to a Malaysian hospital, how will you settle the bills?
It's either you have travel insurance or a medical plan in Malaysia. Or both.
Which do you prefer? That should guide you to your answer.
