  • All the fund you hold are highly correlated to Asian ex-japan index.
  • All these emerging market are usually very volatile, more volatile than US.
  • The fund should not go to zero. In my opinon.
  • So the question will be are you ok with the volatility? Are you ok with the fund going no where for the next 5 years or more?
  • It is also depend on your %portfolio allocation. Limit your allocation less than 10%. Even if you are ok with the above. Majority of your holding should still be in US.
  • Alternativly, you can have exposure to emerging market via world ETF, VT have ~3% in china.
  • you should probably just hold & stop adding if you are uncomfortable, we dont know how long the bear will last.
  • Sell only when it turn green, get out if you really uncomfortable during bull market.
  • Now start increase your weightage on US or World ETF/fund
  • The idea is to have a proper portfolio allocation, that you are comfortable with, even if china go no where for next few years, your overall portfolio will continue to grow.

All 3 unit trusts invest in China equities. All investment has risks of losing. You should ask yourself questions on China equities, try to formulate a view on its futures, and then decide whether you should hold, sell, or buy more.

Questions like:

  • What was the reasons you picked China equities in the first place?
  • Are those reasons still intact?
  • What do you think are the reasons China equities suffered losses?
  • Are those reasons valid?
  • What is your view on China equities moving forward?
