The launch of the index will only be a tracker, like S&P500. You will still need a fund to do roll out a fund (ETF) that tracks the index like, like VOO.
That said being a crypto native, I dont like the idea of investing in a fund like this. Here's why:
Firstly, there are lots of counterparty risk in having someone else hold my funds for me. Unlike stocks which you need an CDP or brokerage account to trade anyway, crypto wallet can be created on the fly at no cost. Unlike gold which is illiquid and hard to store, crypto can be stored on many medium. Secondly, there will be management fees on your portfolio. In the decentralized finance (DeFi) space on Etheruem now, there are protocols that allow you to create self balancing portfolios and some of us can even write your own program to perform the management programtically. In the case of Balancer pool, you are even PAID to have your portfolio rebalanced for you! You can check out my post on passive investment with cryptos (https://geek.sg/blog/passive-investing-strategi...) if you are curious.
Thirdly, its really easy to buy cryptos in Singapore... You can skip the premium you will pay on your fund by learning how to buy cryptos yourself. I've a post that helps if you like (https://geek.sg/blog/complete-guide-to-buying-b...)
