28M, in my 2nd job currently and feeling quite lost at the moment. During the course of my 1st job , I always felt that the nature of my 2nd job was always what I wanted and worked to gain experiences/knowledge related to it. However, after a few weeks into the job, I realised that the nature of the 1st job was always what I liked all along (might have been in my subconscious since I was so fixated on working towards my 2nd job).
I am stuck between giving this role more time and cutting my losses early. For the former, I am actually quite aware that this role might not be up my alley since everything else about this job (e.g. colleagues, bosses are nice; flexi-work arrangements and a lot of autonomy) is great. I even find myself dreading work everyday. Should I hold it out for a year at least or start looking for a new job?

Generally if you are REALLY dreading work EVERYDAY, then yea it's a bad sign. However, always remember to weigh both the pros and cons like should you quit first then look for job or hold on to it while looking for a new job or does it affect u mentally?
Remember to consider carefully. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me.
All the best!

You can always start looking for a new job. There is no need to hold it out for a year unless it looks great on your resume and it doesnt do too much damage to your mental health. basically weigh all the pros and cons.

You have good benefits which does help in the long run - there might be the risk that when you move/leave you might not get both benefits and to do what you like so maybe you can wait until you have multiple offers and make the choice then? I understand - I am also regretting moving from my 1st job, but am trying to stick it out in my 2nd because its not too bad. I'll give it a chance first 😊👋
