How do I tell him to stop or should I just reply to him the next day? If it's urgent, I completely understand the need for Whatsapp. But these issues are really not pressing and can be discussed the next day, or he could just drop me a message on our workspace app for me to address the next day. I'm also new at this job... I’m afraid it could affect his impression of me and my performance review. Any suggestions on how I can go about addressing this?

However, given the nature that he is your boss, you will have to decide if this job is important to you or not.
Your boss may consist your prospect with the Company in future base on your attitude now.

As a boss, I do WhatsApp my subordinates outside of work hours. I do this so that I don't forget about it. What I have impressed on my people though is that they do not need to reply until the next working day. If it's urgent, I will say so.
You should clarify with your boss what his expectations are. A reasonable boss should not expect replies to non-urgent messages outside of work hours.
