Most of the business trusts listed on SGX are not performing and are trading below their IPO price

I guess it's all about comfort. I was also like that. I only want to invest in SGX because I am not familiar with other markets. And I guess you also can say some people got more "itchy fingers" than others, that they will have to invest even though prices are high etc.. Not wrong, just another point of view.

I would say that as a beginning investor, I was taught to be "risk-adverse", and that lies in dividend stocks. Just put and hold on there forever. However I was exposed to a whole new world when i learnt about the US market. But with that said, it's fine for people who still wishes to invest in just SGX, it's an individual preference thing and as long as you are sure of your own investment goals, that is fine :)

They can be other reasons such as having nowhere else to invest. Currently bond and fixed deposit rates are near their lowest in years. This forces investors to pick up shares despite them not performing well because they are still the best performer among the other terrible options

Cos quite a lot of people fallen prey to the comfort-zone effect and only bother investing in SGX stocks and unwilling to take a leap of faith in investing in foreign equity market

Some are temasek owned, like Singtel.

Some are seen as too big to fail, like DBS. Imagine DBS collapse, I think SG will be in deep trouble....
