Based on my rudimentary and layman understanding...
It's a term plan so it should still be valid till the end of the term. But beyond that term, you will not have coverage.
I made the mistake of confusing the Group Term Insurance Scheme with service status.
Term insurance just means coverage for a policy term.
Group Insurance means that MINDEF managed to secure cheaper policies for their servicemen by "buying in bulk/as a group".
But you are only able to take advantage of this "good deal" to purchase coverage while you're in-service (NSF or regular)
I bought the policy when I was an NSF many years ago - I wouldn't have been able to buy the same policy after ORD.
So the validity of your policy depends not on when you turn MR but when your policy term ends. E.g., if it's a 30-year term and you signed up at age 20, your coverage will continue till you're 50 (regardless of whether you're NSman or MR).
I hope some of the FAs in the community can help us clarify.βββ
