Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said that the WP has been known to be PAP-like or PAP-lite, which I somewhat agree. Minister Balakrishnan then questioned WP’s Jamus Lim on how the WP would pay for its programmes as stated in the party's manifesto. James then rebutted to say that there will be trade-offs for these plans the WP would like to carry out. He also said that the differences between the PAP and WP lie at where these trade-offs are. So where and who exactly will bear these trade-offs?

People who spend little will be taxed less than people who spend more.
WP believe that rich and high income should bear the costs.
As long as the middle income has the the naive optimism that they will one day earn more (high income) or be rich (wealth), income tax and wealth tax will unlikely go up by a lot.
