Hi Anon,
Interesting comparison you have here! Honestly, I'd usually stay away from these Football Collaborative Cards, but these 2 CCs aren't actually that bad!
Both cards offer Cashback and points, so it's up to you to choose which rewards avenue you'd like to go down. However, if you're looking to redeem points and miles, I'd suggest steering clear of these 2 cards, and focusing on hacking miles properly instead!
Maybank Manchester United Visa Platinum Card
1% unlimited cash rebate and 1X TREATS Points on all transactions
First 2 years annual fee waived, enjoy subsequent waiver at a minimum spend of S$3,600 per year
Get complimentary travel insurance coverage of up to S$300,000
10% discount at the United Direct Online Megastore, & on food and drinks at the Red Cafe at Old Trafford
Stand a chance to win a trip for two to watch Manchester United LIVE every football season
$80 Annual Fee- Can be waived
TREATS Points will expire one year after the end of each quarter period in which they are earned
You can actually get extra rebates/points with this card! However, this is contingent on Manchester United either winning games or winning the title.
As a Man Utd fan, I can safely say that that isn't necessarily gonna happen at this point in time........
Nevertheless, I'll still list the main perk you get IF —and I cannot stress this enough— ONLY IF Manchester United wins a game or the league.
- Up to 3% Cash Rebate and 5X TREATS points when Manchester United wins a Premier League match
So, only get this card if you're a mega United fan and plan to travel to Old Trafford soon, or if you somehow predict when United will win games.
On the other hand...
Maybank FC Barcelona Visa Signature
1.6% Unlimited cash rebate on all local spend
2X TREATS Points for every S$1 spent on foreign currency transactions
Watch FC Barcelona LIVE in Camp Nou every football season
2 years annual fee waived
10% discount on merchandises at the FC Barcelona Asia Pacific Online store
Enjoy 5% discount on merchandise at the FCBotiga official store at Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain
2.75% foreign currency transaction fee
Honestly, the main appeal of this card is the unlimited earning potential at a 1.6% Cashback Rate, which is pretty good.
All in all, there are other cards out there that are waaaay better if you're looking to redeem rewards. These cards are only worth getting if you frequent Old Trafford or the Camp Nou. So unless United and Barca sort their team out soon, I would definitely steer clear of these cards!
