MariBank Referral Code 8ZUU96EA — September 2026: 5 Things Most Guides Get Wrong Before You Apply

Most posts just drop the code and call it a day. But MariBank's September 2026 referral programme has a few decisions that can cost you S$5 in cash or disqualify you from up to S$100 in separate welcome rewards — before your application is even submitted.

I have been tracking MariBank's monthly referral promotions for most of 2026. This is what I have learned, focused specifically on the traps and decisions that matter before you hit apply.

Referral code: 8ZUU96EA
Full reward breakdown and current T&Cs: dlcuration.com/maribank-referral-code-8zuu96ea

1. There Are Four Reward Tiers — Not One

This is the most common misconception. MariBank does not have a single referral reward. It has four personal product paths, each with a different cash amount:

  • Mari Savings Account (standalone) → S$10 cash
  • Mari Invest Bundle → S$10 cash
  • Mari Credit Card Bundle → S$15 cash
  • Instant Loan Bundle → S$15 cash

There is also a fifth tier for businesses: the Mari Business Account pays S$28 cash instantly to both sides. If you are a sole proprietor or know a business owner who has not signed up, that is the highest single-referral payout MariBank currently runs.

Both you and the friend who shared the code receive the same amount. The cap is the first 10,000 successful referrals for the September 2026 period (1–30 Sep 2026).

2. Choosing the Savings Account When You Qualify for the Credit Card Bundle Is the Most Expensive Mistake

The Mari Credit Card earns 1.5% cashback on both local and overseas spend, with zero annual fee and no foreign exchange fees from 2026 — and the bundled application with a Mari Savings Account unlocks the S$15 referral tier (vs S$10 for savings alone), plus separate welcome rewards the standalone path does not offer.

The welcome rewards that stack on top of the S$15 referral cash on the Credit Card Bundle path:

  • S$30 Welcome Cashback — spend a minimum of S$300 on the Mari Credit Card within 30 days of card approval (excluding Shopee Instant Checkout)
  • S$70 Shopee Voucher Pack — triggered by using Mari Credit Card Instant Checkout on Shopee

Total maximum new-user value via the Credit Card Bundle: S$15 + S$30 + S$70 = S$115, before any interest on your Mari Savings Account.

If you are aged 21 and above, a Singapore Citizen or PR with an annual income of at least S$30,000 (or S$15,000 if above 55), and this would be your first Mari Credit Card — the Credit Card Bundle is almost certainly the right path.

3. The Referral Code Field Cannot Be Left Blank — And Cannot Be Added After Submission

The "Have a Referral / Promo Code? Enter your code here" field appears before the Singpass identity verification step.

Enter 8ZUU96EA at that step. Confirm it shows correctly. Then proceed.

MariBank is explicit on this: if you skip the field or enter the code incorrectly, neither you nor the referrer receives any reward — regardless of whether your application is approved. The code cannot be applied retroactively after you submit.

This is the single most common failure point I see flagged in community threads. People forget the step entirely, or assume they can add it later in-app. You cannot.

4. A Previously Closed Account Still Disqualifies You

MariBank defines "new customer" strictly. If you held any MariBank personal banking product in the past — a Mari Savings Account, Mari Invest Account, or Mari Credit Card — and then closed it, you are not eligible for the referral reward for that same product tier.

You may still qualify for a different tier if you have never applied for that specific product, but check the current T&Cs in the app before proceeding.

Also worth confirming before you apply:

  • Singapore Citizen or PR only (Employment Pass holders and other foreign nationals are not eligible for personal banking products)
  • Aged 18 and above, with a valid Singpass account
  • Application approved within the promotion period: 1–30 September 2026

5. The Two Welcome Rewards Are Triggered Separately — Do Not Mix Them Up

This one trips people up on the spending step. The S$30 cashback and the S$70 Shopee voucher pack are separate promotions with separate qualifying conditions:

  • S$30 cashback → Spend S$300 within 30 days of card approval. Shopee Instant Checkout is excluded from this spend threshold.
  • S$70 Shopee Voucher Pack → Triggered separately by using Shopee Instant Checkout with the Mari Credit Card.

The practical implication: run your everyday non-Shopee spend on the card to hit S$300 for the cashback. Then use the card through Shopee Instant Checkout to trigger the voucher pack. Both are achievable from the same sign-up, and they do not interfere with each other.

The Mari Savings Account: What You Actually Get

The base rate is 0.88% p.a., with interest calculated daily and credited monthly. There is no minimum balance, no salary crediting requirement, and no minimum spend condition. As a new user in September 2026, you unlock up to 3.08% p.a. interest credited daily — no salary crediting, no balance tiers, no hoops.

For reference: MariBank is a licensed digital bank regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and its deposits are insured by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC) up to S$100,000 per depositor — the same safety framework as DBS, OCBC, and UOB for amounts within that threshold.

One ceiling to know: the S$100,000 deposit cap. If you plan to park significant savings here, that is the limit before you need a separate vehicle.

The Mari Credit Card: Why It Is Worth Holding After the Sign-Up Rewards

Beyond the welcome rewards, the Mari Credit Card is one of very few credit cards in Singapore with no annual fee and no foreign exchange fees, with 1.5% cashback on overseas spend from 2026.

The 1.5% flat cashback with no category restrictions and no annual fee is genuinely competitive for everyday spend — no categories to optimise, no minimum spend to hit each month, no annual fee waiver request to submit each year.

Where it does not compete: cards like the Citi Cashback Card (up to 8% on specific categories) or the UOB One Card (when conditions are met) can beat it in specific spending patterns. The Mari Credit Card wins on simplicity, not maximum rate. If you are already optimising hard across multiple cards with category tracking, you know who you are.

For everyone else — it is a strong default card that earns something on everything, charges nothing to hold, and integrates neatly with Shopee if that is part of your regular spend.
