Honestly, I started investing in the long term awhile ago. However, my dad says that China is rising and US is falling and is really adamant on investing in China rather than US companys. Anyone has any thoughts on this ?

No one really knows the right answer, but you couldnt go very wrong if you invested in both nations to be honest. They are the largest economies by far and would probably be so in the next 10 years so I wouldnt heavily weight either one as a clear winner. Also do remember that many of us asians would be biased towards China, and having a bias isnt the best when it comes to investing.

Asia (china), china is a much better market to invest as its ppl are not binging on unsecured debts

It is good to have some diversification. Have exposure in both rather than just one. However, due to risk policy, it's probably a good idea to limit your stocks market exposure in China.
if you have to choose one only, i would follow Warren Buffett advice...

Nobody really know the future. I would put more $ in the developed market since they have more accountability.
