After being the industry for 6 years as a life agent, I can tell you that the journey is not an easy one. Grit is what you need. Humility is what you need. Being teachable is what you need. Compassion is what you need. And on top of that, you will undoubtedly be put through the toughest lows and enjoy the greatest highs.

Hey Anon! I think what's more important is that this job interests you and you can see yourself staying in the industry in the long run. The benefits may be good but if you do not enjoy the day-to-day tasks and ups and downs of an insurance agent then there is no point in staying purely for the benefits. However, if you are still unsure and would like to try it out as a student advisor, please do so whilst you are still young and keep an open mind to everything! This serves as a good opportunity for you to figure out what you like and don't like, your strengths and weaknesses and what you like in a job as well. All the best :)
