Is there a way for Singaporeans to be a rightful owner of a foreign stock (e.g. HK, or US)?

Understand that SGX CDP only applies to local SG stocks. Thanks!

Hi anon,

You will have to open a trading account in a foreign jurisdiction: This will not be easy. In Singapore, foriegn shares are mostly held under custody.

Hi Anon,

Just wanting to understand more - any reason why you are looking into this; each jurisdiction is going to be have different entities (DTCC in US; CCASS in HK) and each would have its own rules and regulations. Is it a cost issue or concerned about exercising voting rights / other?
