Not really, but if there is any sign up gifts, the bank can take it back, usually within 6months/1year cancellation period after you have gotten your card.
I think it's okay for you to keep 1 or 2 credit cards. You don't have to spend on it anyway, just for in case purposes. And if they charge you any fees, you can call them to waive, or just cancel it then. No harm actually.

There are no fees for cancelling a credit card.
Do make sure you used up the credit card points, redeem for something if you have some points
Keep 1 or 2 credit cards for your daily usage even in your studies. As a student, the credit card can still help you with your daily spending for credit card promotions such as discounts at restaurants etc.
You don't have to update the banks that you are now a student... do spend wisely though, pay your credit card spending on time and without interest!

Hi anon,
No minimum period, but depending on any sign up gifts, the banks have the right to claw it back.
No fees either to cancel a card, in fact, people cancel to avoid the annual fee.

It will be stated in the terms and conditions. Different banks/cards have different policy. Do consult the bank as well.
