Hi Anon,
The NUS Stan Chart Card is a decent enough card, and definitely better than the DBS NUS Alumni Card imo.
For the NUS Stan Chart Card, you'll
Earn 1 point with every $1 card spend on leisure, shopping and dining. You may redeem your points for an array of products and services from our online rewards catalogue.
Free NUS MasterCard Debit Card that gives you 1% CashBack on all your spends
24-hour Platinum concierge assist
Complimentary Super Salary Current Account
Enjoy $50 CashBack when you charge a minimum of $500 in eligible retail transactions within 30 days of card approval
You also get the $180 Annual Fee waived for the first 2 years!
On the other hand, the DBS NUS Alumni Card gets you
1 DBS Point for every S$5 that you charge to your card. You can redeem your points for anything from the DBS Rewards catalogue such as movie tickets, shopping vouchers or credit.
Special privileges. Whether you’re on campus or somewhere on the island, you can enjoy special privileges for shopping, wellness, dining and entertainment.
There is a yearly fee of S$128.40 for principal cardholders but this is waived for the first 2 years. Each supplementary card has an annual fee of S$77.04.
The main appeal for this card would be that NUS students in bursaries or awards receive contributions from DBS every time you make a transaction on this card.
Hence, if you're looking to actively contribute back to NUS and help their current students out, then the DBS card would be more suited to you. However, if you're looking to reap individual rewards, then the Stan Chart card would be for you.
Despite this, there are so many other cards out there that have better rewards, so unless you're an NUS Superfan, I'd steer clear of both of these cards 😉

Yes, it is the best card for NUS Alumni but it is definitely not the best credit card. This is because the cashback is only 1%. I would rather tap on AMEX True Cashback Card which earn a cashback of 1.5%.
