Is Singapore becoming China?

The world is becoming smaller as the countries adapt to changing economies.

The way we conduct business and The models maybe

​

i do do think we have change or will change culturally.

Each country have their own character and way of doing things and these are values that I do not feel will change.

Not sure if that's a good thing...

(A) Economically:

No, because we're internationally open and with 22 FTAs with other countries, according to enterprise sg.

However, we depends heavily for China / Indo tourist for tourism income.

Tech wise, as Kenneth shared, Alibaba basically buys and injects funds into most major startup in Singapore and SEA as a springboard to SEA. Thus we're very fortunate to have a supporting government and a good open culture that support startup and welcoming culture for VCs.

(B) Socially / Psychologically:

Never. We're still us and we have our own Singapore identity. We have never let anyone or any country / people influence us till it dictates our culture or social policy/directions. We are who we are always, a unique blend of Expat, Asians and Singaporean! Uniquely us!

Singapore is more independent and we cannot be like China.

Unlike China, we cannot just depend on the Economic within.

We need to allow smart money to come into SG and boost the economic due to our small land area.

Our geographic position does not allow us to become part of China either unless somehow Malaysia becomes part of China then we might see SG taking alternatives to stay non redundant in the world by working out something with Chinalaysia.

SG can replicate the modern technology by buying...i mean hiring talents like how our sports work but SG must bear in mind to stay relevant to Smart Money more then Smart Nation.
