It is clear that the current pandemic is actually good news for Netflix. Users like you and me have watched more video content online because movie theatres, live sports, concerts, etc are shut down. In fact, prior to the pandemic, consumers have already shifted from the traditional pay-tv services and jumped on OTT content from digital players.
Having said that, I believe that the space is still extremely competitive. Not only is Netflix facing huge competition from traditional media companies such as AT&T, Comcast, etc, they have seen digital streaming players such as Apple, Walt Disney too.
Additionally, as we recover from this pandemic, I think the price will start adjusting and we might possibly see a slight drop.
Fundamentally, Netflix’s business model is disruptive but can it fight off its competitors? I am not certainly sure..
