It is never about the price.

The reason why "some people are speculating" means that these speculators are shor-term individuals who want to get rich quick. If you actually adopted a long term horizon, Alibaba is actually way UNDERVALUED based on its fundamentals.

Like others have pointed out, Ant is pretty much a bonus and owns around 30% stake in Ant Group. While the IPO has political underlying issues, Alibaba is a diversified conglomerate so it won't die off just because Ant can't IPO.

Best for you to due your own due diligence and evaluate the stock using fundamental analysis such as DCF/ROE/ROA/PE analysis. Each will yield you a different intrinsic value but based on current price, Alibaba is way undervalued than the rest of the market and should see prices going way beyond its price point in 5 years time based on my own analysis and valuations.

I own Alibaba stock and will be adding more in the next few days as price continues to decline where I would be glad to buy in slowly. While others are dumping this gem, me and other long term investors shall capitalise on this pullback to buy more at a bargain.

Good to look into their financials first yah.

Also considering the Chinese govt is tightening the reins of Chinese tech giants, it looks like they're going after Alibaba first... since JD, Pinduoduo, Vipshop (these three are backed by Tencent) are filing a lawsuit against Alibaba, the govt might as well right... 😬
