It depends.

There are pros and cons to taking up a career as a civil servant:

Pros:

1. Job security

2. Consistent income

3. Subsidised facilities

Cons:

1. Strict top-down hierarchy

2. Emphasis on paper qualifications (may be hard for promotion)

3. Hard to transit to other careers

Personally, I prefer a civilian role therefore despite the attractive and stable pay, I'll not sign-on.
