I'm going to POP soon and my enciks are about to ask about my interest in going to command school.
First of all, I don't mind taking on a leadership role in NS (having experience being a csm in my uniformed group cca back in sec school should help).
Also, my NS bmt experience hasn't been as terrible as I thought so far. (Not saying I like it, bmt isn't supposed to be a vacation hahaha) I'm adjusting to Tekong life quite well.
My mindset right now is that since I won't be able to escape these 2 years of NS obligations, I might as well make the best out of it and become a sergeant or an officer.
However, I'm contemplating whether to sacrifice extra free time (6-month course for SCS / 9-month course for OCS) for a significant increase in my NS allowance as compared to a normal NSF unit allowance.
I have no intention of signing on. I have other interests outside of NS I'm pursuing and would want to continue to follow after I serve my 2 years.
The only thing attracting me to go to command school is the pay. I don't know how to weigh the trade-off between having more time to pursue my actual passions during my book outs and having higher pay for the next year and a half.
Any thoughts or advice for me? Opinions especially from someone who went to command school would really help!

Trust me in NS free time is very valuable definitely all nsfs are underpaid compared to part time jobs and I think man is the most value for money sgt and officer only get a bit more money compared to how much more work an responsibility they have
