Is it okay to quit your job without a backup plan.

I've lost my direction in my career and i'm somewhat afraid if i take a break from working but i'm also feeling burnt out from my job and i need time to recover. How long/short is good enough before i start working again. Thank you:)

Hello. I'm sure you need at least some rest. Do you have other job options? Still depends on the skills you have. Don't worry, I've found a very cool source of great job advice. Happy to share with you It's https://skillroads.com/blog/overly-demanding-boss There are so many helpful articles here you can't imagine. The last thing I read was advice on how to deal with an overly demanding boss. We can conclude that absolutely any question about work can be answered on this blog.

A friend was experiencing burnout, and their company let them take 1 month unpaid leave. And they resumed work after. Maybe you can check w ur employer if this is an option. Hope you feel better soon :)

Not a good idea bro. Unless u have savings to support through these tough

I wouldn't be sure because i do not have the whole context of what you've been going through right now..

assuming you have commitment (parents, spouse or/and kids) and had already set aside of 3 - 6 months of emergency fund, I strongly suggest you to take a break..

since you did mention on the current job/career is taking toll on your mental health, so listen to your inner voice and be align with what you are going to do next..

it's ok not to have any backup plan (as in finding another job/career immediately), but I suppose you still need to outline your plan in terms of duration on how long you want to take a break without breaking your bank or spending all your emergency funds, with a proper strategy..it's totally up to you, if you can sustain your current lifestyle without having an income coming in every single month..

maybe you want to take this time to pursue or learn another skillset that would potentially replace your day job in the future, seeking path in entrepreneurial or whatever that you were having a passion in it, go and do it..

lastly, do encourage you set aside 30 -60 minutes of thinking time to think about your present moment where you are right now and to connect the picture where you REALLY want to be in the future on DAILY BASIS..

wishing you all the best in the future..
