IPOs happen to raise money for the company. It would make sense to sell the shares overvalued if you are the company selling to raise cash.

by the time many retail investors like us get a chance to buy those shares, it's usually an overpriced stock.

of course there are those stocks that do well after IPO but majority do not if you bought early.

If you have at least S$200K~S$300K as a retail investor you may participate in the ANT IPO through POEMS/your remisier

However, I must caution that the likelihood of you getting some shares is really very low, as you still need to ballot.
