Is eToro a good platform for stock investing? They have zero commissions trade and allow fractional shares?

Other than eToro, what are other commission free brokerages?

Hi,

Depending on the nature of your trading, you can consider low commission fee broker such as Tiger. I personally use Tiger and I find it relatively good as it provides LIVE price which some other brokers like FSM does not.

There are other commission free brokerages such as Td Ameritrade (withdrawal fee 25usd) or Firstrade (withdrawal fee 50usd).
1) TD Ameritrade cons lies with its account opening which will take 2 months to open. As of now, I am still waiting since start of november for my account to open and I gave up on it.
2) Firstrade is not regulated by MAS, but is regulated by some other regulatory bodies.

I did consider to use commission free brokerages previously but it limits the flexibility of partial withdrawal as they charge a withdrawal fee.

I will suggest that if you are:

  • a short term trader (spectaculator), then maybe you can consider commission free brokerages.
  • a long term trader (investor), maybe you can consider low commission fee broker such as Tiger broker.
