Is a SAFOS scholarship still relevant in our ever-changing economy?

Not trying to be political here, but genuinely concerned about the future of a SAFOS scholarship.

No doubt, they do earn quite a huge amount of money at the start of their career with a very stable progression in the military. My only concern is that, with the many case studies over the years, it seems that they may not harness the necessary skills or knowledge to run a company well.

Does it still make sense to pursue a SAFOS scholarship that allows the scholar to thrive well in the military, or should someone pursue scholarships given out by companies and organisations?

Is the SAFOS scholarship be something worth pursuing for my children's generation?

In my opinion be it PSC or SAFOS or whatever, being an excellent leader ultimately dependent on the individual. One can be a super intelligent person with super high IQ and can qualify for most of the scholarships out there, but if that person does not have the EQ, you'll end up like the ex CDF of the SAF taking umbrage at legit questions.

I've seen people taking scholarships of SMS equivalent, 1 tier below SAFOS, but still a very prestigious scholarship, screw up so badly at being a leader, a total idiot sandwich.

I honestly believe that SAFOS is still worth pursuing as the person will be groomed to be a future leader of Singapore and make a difference in society. Possibly even leading the country as a MP after retirement from the military. But ultimately it will depend on how capable that person is in terms of their EQ cuz IQ is already there to even consider SAFOS.

SAFOS is an opportunity. How well one performs is another story.

This is my opinion, others may beg to differ. Just my 2cents worth.
