I currently have Enhanced Income Shield Preferred with Assist Rider. Besides the max 3000 SGD co-pay cap, instead of a 10% co-pay, is there any other benefits of having a rider? I'm getting this because I thought I will have more choices of ward in case no beds etc, though I'm ok at class B or so. I noticed that the premiums will be increasing quite abit as we get older.

Hi Anonymous, the 2 main benefits of rider is having the 1) copayment cap that you mentioned. 2) Cancer Drug List and Non Cancer Drug List Coverage.
Not sure why this CDL coverage is not mentioned in the other comments, when it is undoubtedly one of the most important considerations. Especially with the news and discussion about this. Without a good rider, you will not be covered for non CDL drugs and services AT ALL.
Other factors to consider, are the claims adjusted pricing model, number of panel specialists, benefits, premiums etc.
As for premiums, all hospital plans will increase as we age! So important to choose one with a good coverage and sustainable premiums while we are still healthy :) Hope this helps! Happy to do a comparison/ review.

Rider helps to cap your payment often without it you will still have to pay a lot from other medical fees during your stay. It is crucial when you need it.
