1) Do you have a sub-asset class you are planning to invest in, and have ETFs or Mutual Funds done better historically for that particular segment?
2) Are you open to converting your SGD into USD to access a wider range of investment products?
For #1, performance data from 2010-2019 suggests that passive ETFs managed to outperform for sub-asset categories such as US stocks and Govt Bonds, while actively managed unit trusts generally outperformed for non-US stocks and Corporate Bonds.

For #2, there are not many SGD-denominated cost-efficient ETF options in the market, so if you intend to keep your holdings in SGD, a Mutual Fund or Robo-advisor account might serve you better.
