We need to know whether what type of changes you are making.
For ad-hoc fund switch, it is usually one-time only. Therefore, it will not affect future allocation.
For change of allocation for future premium, the change will take effect for all future contribution.

Are you referring to the RSP allocation? If so, that'll change the amount you put into each fund monthly.
Thus if you are putting $1000/mth with a 50/50 split between fund A/B, changing it to 80/20 split means more is going into Fund A than Fund B.
If you are referring to the current allocation, that's more of a rebalancing. So if you had a 80/20 split and change it to 50/50, you'd sell off more Fund A to buy Fund B.
