If financial literacy is so important, why isn't it taught in school?

Since financial literacy is such an important thing in surviving adulthood, why aren't we teaching it in schools? Shouldn't there be a greater emphasis on this since it's such an important skill? What's stopping this from becoming a mainstream subject?

Schools, funded by the government, are supposed to equip you with the minimum knowledge to be productive workers, not necessarily productive investors!

Schools are responsible for giving the students a basic foundation across various subjects. Unfortunately, financial literacy doesn't fit into one of the selected subjects.

But yes, I agree that financial literacy is a very important life topic.
