If a wife has been a housewife all along and husband is a sole bread winner but has since retired, how would the husband compensate his wife in the case of divorce?

Given that a wife has been a housewife all along and husband (60) is a sole bread winner but has since retired, how would the husband compensate his wife if divorce were to take place?

Are there any minor children (i.e. under age 21 or still undergoing tertiary education?) If not, then the only issues are spousal maintenance and division of matrimonial assets. The division of matrimonial assets is determined through a mathematical calculation of parties' direct financial contributions (i.e. payments towards the purchase of the property and housing loan) and indirect contributions which include factors such as length of marriage, children, payments for household and children's expenses etc. In your situation, you should also consider a claim for lump sum maintenance if there are sufficient assets since your husband is retired.
