I heard TDAmeritrade provides zero cost for cash account trading. Is it true? What are the downside on TDAmeritrade?
Could it be their FX rates or other fees ? I know IBKR and tiger brokers fees are lowest among others so far. In addition, their FX rate is really good compare to other mark up rates offer by other brokers in Singapore.

The FX rates are very very close to market rate. I think many struggle to accept they can afford to give free commissions because most do not understand how brokers make money. There are many ways, spread is one main way.
TDA downside is it only allows you to trade US securities, other than that, amazing option chain, stratergy playout chart, charting interface and indicators

It takes months to open an account! My account sign up since start of november still have not been successfully opened.
Only till recently then they email me to request for additional documents. So i foresee it will take another few weeks before my account can be open.
