I have observed that some people who take whole unit for rent are acting like they are allowing common room tenants to use the furniture/items etc out of their kind heart.

It is my understanding that landlords are giving the unit with the use of washing machine, refrigerator, gas stove, TV, please correct me if I am wrong.

Aren’t the common room tenants not paying enough rent, don’t they have equal right towards common items provided by the landlord?

I think there must be a clear boundary stated upfront. If it's over petty stuff (subjective), both parties have to record it and discuss. If im the landlord, i'll factor all these usage etc into my rent fee. If you're that kind of personality that is overly calculative or micromanaged, i suggest you don't rent out. Tenant wise, know your position and don't take kindness for granted.

  • Previously, I let my common room tenants use all the things.

  • Depend on your landlord. As long tenant clean up after cooking, dont be too dirty, and most important pay the rent on time. I dont really care.
