I have many peers around my age owning cars. After working out the math, really wonder how they can afford it knowing what they're working as. It boggles me, the math is not mathing.

How do they afford and yet also able to dine out?

They might have lesser committements, or they are willin to spend more, and save lesser

Some people enjoy being validated by the feeling of attaining something and enjoys showing it to gain admiration. They consider this success. But I do think that real richness is also contentment, peace and being able to enjoy the simple things in life, like walking to the bus stop (some people couldn't walk). So I think no point guessing how these people make their money. They could have a lot of credit card debts and spending forward.

It is called loan/debt.

Everyone's situation is different.

Rather than trying so hard to work out the math about other people's personal lifestyle/expenditure, might be more constructive to ask yourself:

  • Why you are asking these questions in the first place
  • Does it make you feel inadequate/envious
  • Do you simply want to understand why you don't seem to be able to afford the same things as your peers and whether you are underpaid
  • From there, work out what you can or want to do to change your life to address any issues you might have with other people's lifestyles compared to your own

Loans. I think most getting second hand

Sad, i cant afford after work close to 8 years, barely surviving....
