Hi Anon,
I think you should carefully consider your position before you commit to your insurance policy since it is a very long term commitment.
I had the same idea as well and wanted to get my CI insurance sorted out before the change in definitions. However, after more consideration, I realised that getting a CI plan now just to get the broader definitions is not really that necessary.
I think it would be best to consider all possible options, and also to consider whether you really need the insurance before you sign up for any plan.

If you do not have it, any delay would simply attract a higher premium. The older you are, the higher the price. It is something that should be bought when your budget allows. If you have sufficient coverage, you might not require it and you can take your time to decide.
Earlier definitions are an attractive reason to buy it if you are on the fence for months.
