Yes. It is.
You have to be prepared for a whole bunch of people in your life to hate you or leave you or assume you're greedy, or wonder why you don't have a real job.
Some of the people who you think will support you most will leave you and some people who thought you left no impression on whatsoever will be your biggest supporters.
The impression is bad largely among the layfolk. If you're lucky, you'll find a bunch of rich people who recognize the value of your relationship and your products, because every single product you have, whether fully optimized or not, is designed to make your client more financially well off. So it's rarer for them to think badly of you just for existing.
A bit of advice - don't try this industry. This industry tries you. It brings out the ugliest and best sides of you and the uglieist and best sides of everyone in your life. So if you want to join this line, don't try it. Go all in, and make it a point to survive and be recognized as a professional.
Good luck.
