Hi anon,

Claims are paid out based on the validity of the claim (i.e. it must not be fraudulent, or due to a pre-existing that wasn't declared and accepted, or not within the scope of coverage).

Thus, all that matters is whether you have the evidence to support your claim. Naturally, there will be some processing involved, but I can say that most claims are paid out without much fuss if you have the supporting evidence in place.

Your advisor should be able to help you with the claims process if a claim needs to be made. Do understand that due to checks involved on the insurer side, there is definitely some time required before the claim comes through. If your advisor retires by the time you need to make a claim, there is still the customer hotline you can call, or another advisor would have been assigned to you.

Policies are black and white contracts. So don't worry about a valid claim being denied.

Hi there. Aviva has been in the local market and paying out claims for many decades and ease of claim is known to have no issues at all. In fact for shield plans, Aviva has among the fastest claims rate. I can't comment for China Taiping on other hand as they are a relatively new entrant into the local market.

You can reach me here to find out more. I cover 9 major insurers including Aviva, Manulife etc.
