Hmm, many of my msian friends converted to Sgean because of a few common factors:

  1. Meritocracy over race-based policies
  2. More equality in terms of access to govt resources
  3. More fairness in jobs.
  4. Higher income for the same job.
  5. Less complicated political situation.

Of course, grass is always greener on the other side. Singapore has its own problems:

  1. Higher standard of living: much more expensive.
  2. Quite boring in terms of the activities you can do.
  3. Lack of nature
  4. Sgeans are really quite self-entitled and over-privileged.

I guess at the end of the day, you should pick what works for you.

Thank you for providing such useful information. I've been having trouble coming up with many questions about this topic. I'll stick with you! wordle hint

Hi, just to ask the thread here. What happens to parent's inheritance written to malaysian IC if converted to singaporean? Will need to rewrite the WIll?

Not sure if it will help you with your situation, I recently converted to Singaporean after spending almost my entire life studying and working in Singapore, the main reason for this is to access subsidy for housing, childcare, child education. But again same can be done in Malaysia since it is much more affordable, so my consideration is quality of education for my child and safety. Also we are both working in Singapore and don't see ourselve moving back to work in Malaysia in near future, don't think it will work having our children separated from us if they were to be taken care by our parent in Malaysia and we are working in Singapore, makes no sense of a life.

Nothing to advise lol. No benefit in converting just less subsidy only. But a lot of cons. so if you...
