I am an 18 year old who wants to start investing, how should i start?

I have a extremely limited knowledge of investing and only know of buying stocks as investment, are there any other investment opportunities for beginners/teenagers which are low risk? Please feel free to recommend any articles worth reading for Beginners :)

Hi there!

I first started realising the importance of growing financial not in the stock market.
Initially I depend on bank interest for my money however when covid hit world wide, banks started to decrease their interest drastically.
Afterwhich I turn to roboadviser knowing that its a safer option as I do not need to manage so much. The returns were generally higher compared to bank interest but being in the 20s, with a full time job, I feel I can take more risk so I open a Tiger account to ownself buy stocks as an investment.

Stock investment wise I started looking at SG market for reits first before moving to invest in the US market.

Hope it helps as being a teenager, I also felt lost during that time and wanted to kick start my investment journey. Looking back, I wish i could have started earlier :)

Don't rush into it, no need to fomo. For a start, u can make use for robo-advisors which have no minimum fee like Syfe or Stashaway. Along the way as u learn and your portfolio grow then u can consider DIY.

In any case, do not buy ILP from finanial advisors. Avoid ILPs at all cost. Super high fees and many layers of fees within. Everyone in the pipeline gets a cut from you, and you are the goat at the bottom getting slaughtered by fees. Fees are critical as it reduces your returns significantly
