I am a 33yo now thinking of mid career change, now an AM in cust svc ops for past 8 years, but clueless where next or industry to go. I am ok with my modest current 3.5k pay and even an exec role. What should I do?

To add on. No plans to have kids. Current job has no further progression. Staying is disadvantages (transfer department) as my pay is currently boosted by couple of allowances so will be losing out alot being reduced to base salary. Studied tourism and marketing (no SEO or digital stuffs taught in those days) degree.

Genuinely need some guidance or help because it's starting to feel I'm just working for earning an salary but I regret not seeing out a career path ahead. Better to get woke now.

In today’s challenging economic climate, one may argue that we cannot afford to be too picky and have to learn to swallow our prides during job hunting. I guess it depends on how you view it and your current circumstances. If you are only taking this job for the short term( or you are only able to find this job at the moment), then I guess you can choose to grit your teeth and tolerate whatever disrespect and unhappiness that you encounter in a particular company. After all, 没鱼虾也好 ( singlish translation: no fish prawn also can– just make do with what you have). A word of caution though, check out this article from Harvard Business Review that shares about the hidden dangers of sticking with a toxic boss.

But if you have your emergency funds and can afford to commit to job-hunting for a slightly longer time period, it might be worth learning how to distinguish which company to work for and how to negotiate your job remuneration and associated benefits.

I have collated a few questions below on common questions that interviewers might ask these days and my suggestions on how to approach these questions, based on my professional experience of training adults and tertiary students in business/workplace communication.
