Is there anyway to go about opening an account as a student? They didn't approve my app cos my occupation is student.

TD Ameritrade typically rejects students due to low net worth and liquid net worth, which is what my friend was told when he applied for a TD Ameritrade account. They have an overwhelming number of applications at the moment and it probably makes more sense for them to toss out applicants that aren't able to generate revenue for them.
I suggest that you use other brokers such as Tiger, Moomoo or IBKR in the meantime. Alternatively, you could open an account with Firstrade ($0 commissions) but they do not provide a local SGD funding facility so you would need to use a bank service to convert and remit the USD.
